What we collect, why, where it goes and how long we keep it. Short, because we collect very little.
The short version
- No cookies, no ad tracking
- Only what you send us
- Used to reply, nothing else
- Removed on request
This site is deliberately quiet. It sets no cookies and loads no advertising or third-party tracking scripts. We count visits anonymously, on our own server, as set out below. Fonts are served from our own domain rather than fetched from Google, so reading a page sends nothing to anyone else.
What we collect
Only what you send us, and only when you send it. From the contact form:
- Your name, email address, business name and phone number.
- What your business runs on, chosen from a list, and what is getting in the way, if you tell us.
- The call time you requested, if you picked one.
- The date and time you submitted it.
From Scope your system: your answers, and the email address you ask us to send the outline to. From the Friction check: your answers only. It asks for no name or email.
We do not ask for, and have no way to receive, payment details through this site.
Why we collect it
To reply to you and to prepare for a first conversation. That is the whole purpose. We do not sell it, we do not share it for advertising, and asking us a question does not add you to a mailing list.
Where it goes
Your enquiry is stored in a private database that only we can read, and a notification is emailed to us so we see it. Two service providers are involved in that: Sanity, which hosts the database, and Resend, which delivers the email. Both act on our instructions and neither uses your enquiry for their own purposes. Answers to Scope your system and the Friction check are stored in our own database, and Resend delivers the outline you ask for.
Counting visits
We count visits with Umami, an analytics tool we run on our own server. It records the page, the site that sent you, your browser, device type and country, and a few actions such as which buttons are used and how far a page is read. It sets no cookies, keeps nothing that identifies you, and never records what you type. If your browser asks sites not to track you (Do Not Track), your visit is not counted at all.
Visits from AI assistants and search engines, including those that use our markdown pages or connect to the site as a tool, are counted the same way, by the assistant’s name and never by who is using it.
How long we keep it
While the enquiry is live and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we have context if you come back to us. After that it is deleted. If you would like yours removed sooner, ask and we will do it.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will action it, you do not need to explain why. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Client data
This page covers this website. Data belonging to clients whose systems we build is governed by the agreement for that engagement, and by the commitments set out under Security, data & exit: chiefly that their data is theirs from the first day, hosted in their name, and can leave with them at any time.
Changes
If this page changes materially we will say so here rather than quietly amend it.
